Rucker Foot Locker Relaunch

Overview: After a period of absence from the market, the Rucker brand made a dynamic comeback at Foot Locker in 2021. I was tasked with designing a capsule collection that would not only revitalize the brand but also honor its deep basketball heritage.

Role: Creative Director, Lead Designer

Process: Drawing on my long-standing relationship with the Rucker brand and its founders, I aimed to resurrect the most compelling elements that defined its legacy. Keeping the iconic Rucker Park at the heart of the brand, I sought to infuse the revamped collection with the essence of New York City. This involved integrating the city’s signature colors—orange and blue—and incorporating elements inspired by the NYC subway mosaics to celebrate both the brand’s heritage and its urban roots.

Outcome: The collection was successfully launched both online at FootLocker.com and in select Foot Locker locations across New York City, where it was met with enthusiastic reception and quickly sold out.

Key Features: The capsule featured an intricate mosaic design as its central motif, prominently showcased across all garments. Highlights included a special edition printed mesh short, along with limited-edition jersey, hats, and tees designed to complement the collection.

Reflection: My long-standing relationship with the Rucker Brand makes collaborating with their team a seamless experience. They trust my vision and design execution, which allows us to create outstanding products together. The positive reception from both the brand and the consumer market is always deeply gratifying.
