Rucker Westsiders Collection

Overview: Following the successful relaunch of the Rucker Brand with the “Mosaic Collection,” Foot Locker approached us for a second collection.

Role: Creative Director, Lead Designer

Process: For the follow-up collection with Foot Locker, I drew inspiration from one of the most historic teams to have played at Rucker Park, The Westsiders. This allowed me to pay homage to basketball legend Julius "Dr. J" Erving. To maintain the authenticity of the collection, I preserved the team's original colors—orange, white, and black—and updated the team’s logo to give it a refreshed look.

Outcome: The collection was a success both in-store and online during its limited availability. Notably, the Dr. J Tee was one of the fastest-selling items and garnered significant popularity, outpacing the other pieces in the collection.

Key Features: The capsule featured a throwback jersey adorned with Dr. J’s #32 on the back. Additionally, I used a vintage photo of Dr. J at Rucker Park to design a minimalist graphic for the collection’s staple tee.

Reflection: It’s incredibly gratifying to see one of my collections achieve such success, leading to the opportunity to create another. Working with a legacy brand like Rucker allows me to preserve its heritage and history while adding my own creative touch to the pieces.
