The Ludo Shop

Overview: Ludo is a strategy board game for two to four players where players race their tokens from start to finish using the rolls of a single die. The game originated in ancient India and is based on the ancient Indian game Pachisi, which dates back over six centuries. Over the years, I’ve taken on various side projects to challenge myself, one of which was helping to launch TheLudoShop.com. For this venture, I developed the re-branding and re-designing of this board game.

Role: Creative Director, Lead Designer

Process: I began by digitizing the traditional Ludo board elements and spaces. From there, I incorporated thematic motifs to add customization and a modern touch, introducing themes like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and others. I then added detailed easter eggs into the designs for dedicated fans of these franchises. The result was a collection of intricately designed boards that transformed a basic concept into something uniquely engaging.

Outcome: Of all the projects I’ve worked on, this simple concept has proven to be one of the most successful. The boards continue to sell well on the site, and I am frequently receiving requests for additional themes and custom designs featuring images provided by patrons.

Reflection: The reception to the boards has been overwhelmingly positive, making them a favorite among Ludo enthusiasts and gamers alike. It’s been rewarding to explore new concepts within this framework and see the joy these boards bring to players.
